How to Install a Threaded Pressure Transducer

“Thanks for purchasing an APG Pressure Sensors. In this video, we will cover the steps to installing it properly. First of all, you want to make sure that you don’t let anything hit the diaphragm. A sharp impact can cause drift so I would suggest that you keep the cap on until you’re ready to install the sensor. Start by sealing your threads. For tapered threads, use teflon thread tape or a sealant compound. You only need about 3-5 wraps to seal the sensor. This is because you can gum up your threads if it is too thick and if it is too thin you’re not going to get a very good seal.

When you’re sealing the threads you’ll want to wrap the tape in the opposite direction of the thread. This is to avoid unravelling the tape as you screw on the sensor. If you’re using a straight threaded sensor the o-ring should create a good enough seal. So be sure not to rely on thread tape to seal straight threads. A flush mount diaphragm is pretty sensitive to over torquing so you’ll want to refer to your user manual for a torque spec. If you’re installing a tapered thread, tighten it as little as possible to get a good seal. And that is how you properly install your threaded pressure sensor. Thanks for watching.”
